Napa Lighted Art Festival

Experience the Magic of the 2023 Napa Lighted Art Festival

The Building 180 team just returned home from attending the opening night of the Napa Lighted Art Festival. The lights, the sculptures, and – of course – the community were all magical. During the darkest and coldest months of the year, Napa had the bright idea to bring in sculptures to light up the city and warm up its residents with something special during these winter months.

The Napa Lighted Art Festival is a celebration of creative art, technology, and lights that supports innovative techniques using lighting technology as a growing art medium. This walkable outdoor experience is FREE in downtown Napa running from January 21st to February 19th. We were thrilled to be a part of the event by curating and producing some amazing pieces of work from three very talented and inspirational artists.

Bill Kennedy, AKA INFLATABILL, debuted a new piece, called Petalous, which is a mesmerizing sculpture of illuminated petals. The inflatable sculptures transform the once simple light poles into budding flowers illuminating the Napa River as you stroll alongside it. Bill’s work brings a unique lighting experience to the public that creates an atmosphere of wonder and joy.

Katy Boynton installed her sculpture, Heartfullness, which is a large-scale steel sculpture of a heart that has been broken and pieced back together. While it may be damaged and pieces may be missing, this mended heart is stronger and infinitely more interesting. Life presents many things that can break the heart, but true happiness comes from overcoming those obstacles and mending your heart in every way imaginable to love again.

Taylor Dean Harrison’s otherworldly sculpture, Polymery, features vibrant lights reflecting off of colorful polygon shapes that move in harmony. Polymery consists of 5,15ft sculptures that create an immersive environment filled with captivating visuals. Each sculpture throws light and shadow in a 60' diameter circle with a unique pattern that allows any passersby to bathe in its light.
