Since 2018 we have launched two Artist-in-Residence Programs whose purpose is to support new work and offer artists time, space, community, collaboration & artist support. We welcome all mediums of art from visual and sculptural to musical and performance, we are open to all. All residencies are provided free of charge.

AGAPOLIS
Situated on 22 acres of land in Portola Valley, California, Agapolis was a former home, community, and gathering place for people contributing to the evolution of consciousness, culture, and systems. The property housed a 13-person residential community, a 13,000 sq/ft warehouse, and a 10,000 sq/ft house that included a cathedral performance space.
The Agapolis + Building 180 program was designed to provide both a retreat and communal living experience among the artists-in-residence and the Agapolis community. Expanding on the emphasis of community and collaboration, the program brought together artists of different disciplines to work on a project (or projects) together.

ANANTA
The Ananta residency focused on the intersection of art, consciousness, and technology. The program took place on a low hill amidst the Santa Cruz Mountains in Boulder Creek, California, in a rainforest of redwood treesβthe largest and most ancient trees on Earth.
The residency influenced artistsβ work by encouraging active engagement with the land. Participants had the opportunity to work undisturbed in an environment that enabled them to focus their full attention on their practice.
This residency emerged through a partnership between Ananta, Building 180, and the Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness graduate program at the California Institute of Integral Studies.
