(Belated) Earth Day Greetings from Ethyl in
New Mexico!
Meow Wolf recently acquired our beloved blue whale, Ethyl! She was installed in Santa Fe, New Mexico at the Santa Fe Community College. We couldn't be more thrilled with our partners and
their dedication to continuing Ethyl's messages about climate change and fostering a sustainable, healthy environment in order to protect our planet for future generations. Meow Wolf
released the below short documentary about Ethyl's journey on Earth Day.
Earth Day Celebration
Artists Joel Dean Stockdill and Yustina Salnikova were joined by community leaders, educators and Meow Wolf staff and founders, including Santa Fe's Mayor Alan Webber, New Mexico's Cabinet Secretary
Sarah Propst, New Mexico's Public Art Program Director Michelle Laflamme-Childs, SFCC's Board Chair Linda Siegle and Meow Wolf's CEO Vince Kadlubek on April 22nd, 2019 for the unveiling of Ethyl
in her new home. Meow Wolf and Santa Fe Community College asked the community to take the challenge of living just one day without the use of any plastics. We challenge you to do the same!
Earth Day Message + Thanks!
Ethyl serves as a giant reminder that we need to do better for our planet. She's also a testament to the fact that we can re-use our own waste to create something
beautiful. Every nine minutes, the weight of a blue whale is dumped into the ocean. We must do better if our oceans--and all of the creatures in them--are to survive.
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of Ethylβs journey. Special thanks to Hub Strategy and Communication, Monterey Bay Aquarium, the National Park Service, Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy,
Meow Wolf, Santa Fe Community College, the artists Joel Dean Stockdill and Yustina Salnikova and all of our crew and volunteers.
If you are interested in bringing awareness or creating a large scale animal to your community please contact us at info@building180.com. We can help!
