Since 2018 we have launched two Artist-in-Residence Programs whose purpose is to support new work and offer artists time, space, community, collaboration & artist support. We welcome all mediums of art from visual and sculptural to musical and performance, we are open to all. All residencies are provided free of charge.

COVID-19 UPDATE: Thank you for your interest in applying to our artist in residence program. At this time, in line with California Governor Gavin Newsom's ongoing shelter-in-place order, the Ananta and Agapolis team has decided to indefinitely postpone the residency program. We are still accepting applications with the hope that we are able to move forward at a later date, but at this time it is important to prioritize the safety of our communities by complying with government-mandated social distancing. Your application will automatically be considered when we reschedule the residency after the pandemic. You will not need to reapply. Please continue to check this webpage for updates about rescheduling as this crisis develops, and hopefully soon, subsides. We hope you remain safe and healthy through this difficult time.

AGAPOLIS - APPLICATIONS OPEN

Situated on 22 acres of land in Portola Valley, California, Agapolis is a home, community, and gathering place for people contributing to the evolution of consciousness, culture, and systems.  The property is home to 13-person residential community, a 13,000 sq/ft. warehouse, and a 10,000sq/ft house including a cathedral performance space.

Agapolis has partnered with Building 180, an arts management and consulting agency based in San Francisco, California whose mission is to bring more art into the world by helping artists to maintain sustainable careers.

The Agapolis + Building 180 program is designed to provide both a retreat and communal living experience amongst the artists-in-residents and the Agapolis community. Expanding on the emphasis of community and collaboration, we aim to bring together artists of different disciplines to work on a project (or projects) together.

ANANTA

Ananta is a new Artist Residency with a focus on the intersection of art, consciousness, and technology. Ananta is nested on a low hill amidst the Santa Cruz mountains in Boulder Creek, California, which is in a rainforest of redwood trees; the largest and most ancient trees on earth. We believe in the gift of space and time.

Our residency will affect your work by engaging actively with the land. You will have the opportunity to work undisturbed in an environment that will enable you to focus your full attention on your work. Our hope is to provide a critical and inspiring exchange on a personal level with the people you will meet here. We hope to make it possible for you to grow in your own practice. Ananta participants are invited to make use of the space as a place to find connectedness allowing them to disconnect from the modern world and reconnect with nature, ourselves, and fellow participants with an open heart.

This opportunity is emerging out of a partnership between AnantaBuilding 180  and the Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness graduate program at California Institute of Integral Studies (a university striving to embody spirit, intellect, and wisdom in service to individuals, communities, and the earth). All residencies are provided free of charge.
