New Art Installations at the Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV
Building 180 recently wrapped one of our largest installations to date at the Downtown Grand Hotel and Casino in collaboration with Las Vegas entrepreneur Ryan Doherty.
San Francisco-based artist Camila Magrane created the largest augmented reality mural of its kind called Transmigrations, while Austin-based muralist Josef Kristofoletti painted a vibrant 5600 square foot mural named Slat City on the hotel’s exterior mechanical building.

More About Transmigrations + Camila Magrane
Transmigrations is composed of (2) 75x100’ digital murals that can be seen from 112 of the hotel’s guest rooms in the Gallery Tower. A custom continuation of Magrane’s “Virtual Mutations” series, augmented reality technology is utilized to create
an interactive experience. Using Virtual Mutations, a proprietary app created by Magrane for her own works, guests will be able to view and interact with the augmented reality features of the artwork just outside of their hotel room window with
an iPad.
“Transmigrations” examines the possibility that multidimensional realms coexist simultaneously in a shared space. Unaware of each other, different species and communities subsist in the same territory and time, tuned in only to their individual
frequencies, shaped and limited by their own perceptions. They traverse freely without interference and oblivious to the existence of alternative parallel worlds. “Transmigrations” invites the viewer to explore these coinciding microcosms and the
lives within them, bearing in mind that someone or something else may also be examining these worlds at the same time.
