Building 180 executed its first international production with MASSIVart in Shanghai, China in 2019. Constellation by Christopher Schardt was on display for 2 months at Ruihong World in Shanghai’s Hongkou district. The 26' LED canopy was part of Xintiandi's Light Art Festival in collaboration with Modern Sky Lab.

The task was to bring more light and economic activity to the shopping complex during the holiday season. Schardt’s work provided not only a dazzling attraction, but also a place where shoppers could rest. 

Bringing a sculpture overseas is no easy feat and poses many challenges including international shipping logistics and customs documentation, coordination of local crew, arranging business visas and travel, navigating different power requirements, coordinating meetings across different time zones and executing the installation in a foreign language.
