Paint the Void 1 Year Update
|
Hello Beautiful Art Lovers and Supporters!
We hope you have started off your year with hope and inspiration! We have hit the ground running this year hitting our goal of 130 murals.
In case you missed it, we were awarded a grant by Mayor London Breed and the City of San
Francisco in partnership with YBCA and the Office of Economic Workforce and Development to create 30 new murals as a part of the SF Creative Corps pilot program.
The purpose behind this program is to create more economic opportunities for artists and continue to beautify and uplift the city as we continue to navigate this pandemic. The murals in this
series are themed to promote public health and safety messaging in regards to COVID-19. The goal is to continue painting San Francisco with hope, beauty, and resilience as well as care for our family, friends and
neighbors.
We have also partnered with Illuminate to light up the murals, so that the artwork can be enjoyed even after the sun goes down.
|
During this process, we have dug deeper in community and connected with 10 additional neighborhood associations. We focused on selecting hyper-local artists that represent the culture and space of each neighborhood.
Focus on community
We have produced 3 community murals as a part of this series in which the community was able to (safely) come together and participate in painting the mural themselves.

We launched a case study!
We launched a case study in Partnership with YBCA to hear from you! As we reflect on the past year of Paint the Void (Can you believe it’s been a year!?) we want to measure our impact by hearing from the people who were able to experience the murals.
The purpose behind this survey is to provide quantitative and qualitative data for the arts to show that art is essential!
Please fill out and share this survey for the chance to win a $50 gift card! – https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/paintthevoid

We could not have done it alone.
Thank you to Together SF, for providing volunteers to help our small team. We were able to accomplish so much more thanks to the extra help.
Thank you to Dunn-Edwards for sponsoring paint for 5 murals including 2 of the largest murals we have ever done!
Thank you to the Midway for hosting our Bayview community event and for allowing us to store and save some of the murals that have needed to come down.
and thank YOU for your support!
